Arizona Fall League Update (Third Week 2008 Season)

AFL Week Three Update 2008

The AFL’s third annual Rising Stars Showcase took place this week. The rosters are made up of “sure thing prospects” along with a few additional players that have had a strong AFL season.

The theme of the game was AL vs NL. Tommy Hanson, (bio & stats) was the star of the game. In 3 IP he allowed 0 hits & 0 runs. He walked 2 and stuck out 7 of baseball’s best prospects. Starting for the NL in this game was Yankees prospect Phil Hughes. In his 3 IP of work he allowed 2 HR.

Toronto Blue Jays prospect J.P. Arencibia batted fourth for the AL and hit one HR and collected five total bases.

The AL won the game 7 – 6.

I’ve decided to change things up this week. Instead of the six or so individual player quips I’ve gone with a couple of longer biographies.
