Bad Luck for Jays as Romero Lands on DL

romero-dl.png

A tough break for the Jays just came across the news wire, standout starter Rickey Romero has just landed on the 15 day DL with a strained muscle in his right side.

Although I haven’t seen regarding his replacement as of yet I wouldn’t be surprised to see former major league Wade Miller get the call. He was the AAA opening day starter for the organization. His service time means nothing when compared to prospects Cecil & Mills. And Cecil & Mills have been inconsistent so far this season.

Update: From Bastian’s Twitter Account:

Ricky Romero is on the DL with a R. Oblique strain. No info yet on what happened. More later… Looks like Brett Cecil will get the call Sat

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Maybe some good luck

B.J. Ryan has also found himself on the DL. Thank god for the depth of relievers at AAA. Assume an Accardo or Wolfe call-up to replace the ineffective Ryan. Frasor is probably next in line along with Downs for a shot at the closers role.

Guys like Wilner and Bastian are saying Cecil but I believe that to be wishful thinking on their part. If you take into account service time as well as the fact the Mills/Cecil are getting lit up, Miller is the clear choice (not to mention that he is pitching effectively). Word on the street though says that Burres is coming up. I don’t understand that one. Burres is getting dominated in Vegas. But as you said, we shall soon see.
