Help Needed
Pictured here is a championship baseball medal from 1921. What we are looking for is someone who might recognize the significance of it.
This medal is a family heirloom (not mine) that has been handed down and the story behind it has become a little sketchy. What we know is that it is from 1921 as you can see on the back of the medal. The medal is Ontario based, which might have to do with the OS on the back (or maybe it stands for Old School). The CP may stand for either Canadian Pacific or Canada Packers, and this is a championship medal, whether it is from a tournament or season it is unknown. If anyone recognizes the medal or has any insight into old time Canadian Baseball, please post your comments below.
What is the medal made of itself? Any ideas on the original chain?
I did some reasearch I talked to my grandfather who’s father played minor leaguge baseball from 1913-1927. My grandfather has a very similiar piece that was his fathers the only difference is the player is fileing on the front and on the back the logo is different. My grandfather says he does recall his father playin all through the 50 states and in Canada. He said he recieved the medal for something what is now like a gold glove in MLB. He said he recieved it for the “gold glove” for he division. So this might be somthing that is similiar to the CY Young possibliy now, but this is very much a Minior League medal, I hope this might help you move to the next level in your search
Kman, I don’t have any information on the original chain. The medal itself is made from sterling silver.
Anthony, many thanks for your insight it is much appreciated!
