The bullpen also has some decent arms and an under-rated closer in Jones.

As the Twins build towards the future, only the Indians & the White Sox are viable roadblocks for the Tigers. Can the Tigers win the Central with this roster? Will age & injuries become an issue? When an inevitable injury does take place, do the Tigers have enough of a system left to fill the gap or acquire someone that can? Is depth past the starting line-up a real issue?     Your comment about Brandon Inge being a super sub is very pertinent in analysing the depth of the bench. To put it bluntly, he is a little bit of a stud. Guillen can play multiple positions as well.

    The bullpen is still solid despite the injury to Zumaya. I am concerned about the rotation. I see Verlander followed by 4 ?’s

    Bonderman had arm trouble last year and imploded, Willis is no longer the phenom he once was and now he has to step up to the big boy league, Robertson went through arm related issues last year and is a bit flaky and Rogers…. this old man/booze hound extraodinaire just had a blood clot in his arm. (Who would have thought his blood could clot with all that alcohol running through his system? I digress).

    The starting 9 is the best in the bigs and they should be the favourites over Cleveland to win the Central. But I am worried about that rotation..

    The Detroit Tigers are prepared to deal Brandon Inge after the third baseman told the club he would rather start for another team

    Detroit will try to trade Inge to a club that expects him to be its regular third baseman, Dombrowski said, adding, “For as much as he’s done for us, and as hard as he’s played, it makes a lot of sense for us to do that.”
