Jeremy Hermida Batting 3rd

Hermida Batting 3rd = Huge Sleeper

Jeremy_Hermida

So far this spring the Marlins have been using Jeremy Hermida in the #3 hole. This can translate to big fantasy numbers in 2008.

Anyone hitting in the three hole behind Hanley Rameriz has a good shot at 100 RBI. Dan Uggla is also under-rated in terms of his run scoring ability. The loss of Caberara as a primary run producer will hurt both of these players bottom line in runs scored but both should still clock in at or near 100 runs scored in the #1 and #2 batting order positions.

Jeremy Hermida Career MLB Stats

His overall combination of OBP & SLG make him a natural #3 hitter on a rebuilding club such as the Marlins, even if his HR total falls short of 25 in 2008.

One encouraging sign are his 2nd half splits:

A .340 average with a .555 slugging percentage are premier level statistics.

A patient hitter in the minors (111 BB at AA in 2005), Hermida has struggled with his walk percentage in the majors. Can this change? Certainly, as Hermida is just 24 heading into 2008 with 245 career MLB games under his belt. Watch his spring training stats to see if he’s taking a more patient approach at the plate.

As always injuries are a big concern with Hermida. But with the late round value that he presents you should seriously consider making a play for Hermida on draft day.
