The Mexican Baseball League has added two new teams for the 2012 season, bringing the total number of teams to 16
The two new teams are the Delfines de Ciudad del Carmen (Carmen City Dolphins) and the Rieleros de Aguascalientes (Aguascalientes Railroad Workers).
Not to be confused with Playa del Carmen near Cancun, Ciudad de Carmen is located in the state of Campeche, between the state capital of Campeche to the northeast and Veracruz to the west.
The Dolphins will be managed by former Major-Leaguer Felix Fermin, with former Toronto Blue Jay Rob Ducey as part of his coaching staff. The team will also have former big-leaguer Willy Aybar and minor-leaguer Gilberto Mejia and Willy Aybar on the active roster.

Ciudad del Carmen will play in the same divivision as last year’s champions – the Quintana Roo Tigres – the Zona Sur.
The Aguascalientes Rieleros are the former Chihuahua Dorados, a team who has been on hiatus since the conclusion of the 2009 season. Aguascalientes is located smack-dab in the middle of Mexico and will play in the Zona Norte. The Railroad Workers will also employ a former big-leaguer, Yorman Bazardo.
This is not the first time that Aguascalientes has had a Mexican League franchise. The first iteration (also known as the Rieleros), moved to Nuevo Laredo in 2008. The team will play out of its old home ballpark, Estadio de Béisbol Alberto Romo Chávez, in use since 1938.
Really though, the most exciting news is the formation of the Delfines’ new cheerleading squad, pictured below:
