Mexican Rookie Academy Begins
Much like Dominican Baseball, Mexico has adopted a similar baseball academy to develop young prospects for the Mexican Baseball League.
Consisting of 8 teams filled with prospects of the 16 team Mexican League, the 72 game season began today and will conclude December 9th. Aside from developing baseball players, the Rookie Academy also develops umpires for the LMB. Games are played every day simultaneously at 1030am.
The first 4 games are Monterrey-Chihuahua versus Monclova-Saltillo, Yucatan-Tijuana versus Tabasco-Minatitlan, Mexico-Oaxaca versus Puebla-Lagoon and Aguascalientes-Veracruz versus Quintana Roo-Campeche.
Are the prospects in this league also on the regular season rosters? An additional 72 games would make the year a long haul for these guys.
No they aren’t on the regular season rosters, they are just young baby boys.
