Last Week in the Golden League
The Calgary Vipers might be too much for the Golden League. They have only played Edmonton up to this point but they have been playing lights out ball. The pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.12. They are led by Dallas Mahan. Mahan in his two appearances agaist the Cracker Cats he has a 2-0 record, an ERA of 3.00 and an impresive WHIP of only 1.17. He has got alot of help from his defense as he has only struck out 4. Mahan, along with Evan Gruesel appear to be a great 1-2 punch for the Vipers.
Next up for the Snakes is the Reno Silver Sox. The Sox are 1-7 so far with a team ERA over 10. The Sox are led by Andre Alvarado with an OPS over 1.100 through 8 games. The Silver Sox have had trouble pitchings. Most of the pitching troubles came from the sweep at the hands of the St.George Roadrunners.
The Yuma Scorpions have jumped out to a lead in the South Division. They took the last three against the previously undefeated Gary Carter led O.C. club.
The defending champs, Chico Outlaws, have been off to a poor start. Depleted by signings of their young players into contracts with ML teams the Outlaws are 1-6 and already 4.5 games behind the Vipers in the North.
Brandon Taylor of St.Geoge is tearing up pitching. Through 8 games he is batting .529 with 5 dingers and 12 RBI’s.
