The Return of Randall
Â
Â
Randall Simon, the infamous mascot smasher, has resurfaced in the Mexican League and made his impact felt in his debut. Simon led Tijuana to an 8-5 win over Chihuahua. He hit 2 HR, drove in 4 and scored 3 times. Now the only thing left is for him to go tamalé smashing instead of hot dog smashing. Good luck Randall, a new force to be reckoned with on the Mexican Fantasy Baseball scene.
Keep the mexican updates coming!
I always thought Randall would hit if given the chance. He put together three seasons in a row with a .300+ MLB batting average.
I think his lack of slugging kinda killed him. He could hit, (wouldn’t walk), but his SLG % probably wasn’t high enough for a first baseman. But hell, he has a lifetime .283 batting average. If I was in need of a 1st baseman, or even a decent left handed bat off of the bench I’d give him a shot on my roster.
Keep us up to date, if he plays all season, he’ll be the leagues star. From the photo, at least it looks like he’s in better shape than he used to be.
One last annoying question. Do you know what he was signed for in terms of $$$$? He has to be near the top in pay scale in the mexican league, and it may be more benefical for him to make some coin there instead of a $400,000 veteran contract in the majors.
I’m glad that Mexican baseball fever is catching on. As for how much money players make, I have not been able to find that out. I don’t think that contract numbers are made public like they are in MLB.
