This Week in the Golden League – June 23
Orange County and Calgary both appear to be running away with their respective divisions. Both have opened up 6 game leads on their divison opponents. Calgary has a team, yes a team, OPS of .942! The Vipers also sport the leagues best pitching staff to date.
The OC Flyers have an incredible team OPS of 1.020! Led by Patrick Breen who has 42 hits and 22 being for extra bases. Unfortunately not many in the OC have been witnessing the power surge as the Flyers have been average less than 700 to their home games. Maybe they should take a page out of their SoCal rivals and Sleaze up the gimmicks.
Derrick Loop of Chico, despite his teams struggles, has amassed a 3-0 record through six appearances an ERA under 2 and an opponents average under .200. The Outlaws have a high 6.75 team ERA. The Chico team is the defending GBL champs and have been off to a terrible start. They turned it around a bit this week against division opponents Edmonton and Calgary. The Outlaws managed a 3-3 record when the Canadian clubs visited Northern California. The Outlaws stars have been picked up by affiliated minor league teams leading to much of their downfall.
It is hard to say what is happening in St. George last week I reported on some outrageous scores. Yesterday the Roadrunners took it to the Yuma Scorpions 30-16!! I haven’t been able to see a box score but that is an unbeleivable score.
Anyways, check back for more GBL goodies.
