Monterey Sultanes vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

The D-backs will face the Monterrey Sultanes of the Mexican League for the first time ever on March 29 at Chase Field in Arizona, as part of spring training preparation for the Diamondbacks while Monterey will be in the midst of its regular season. The Sultanes are one of the most popular teams in Mexico and have collected nine championships in their 69-year history and are the current defending champions of the Mexican League.

The series will serve to promote Mexican baseball in an area where many Mexicans currently inhabit. As well, there is always a push for Monterey to land the next expansion team in MLB or at least relieve one of the floundering teams. Both exhibition games will be broadcast on Sports 620 KTAR and in Spanish on Radio Fiesta 1400 AM.
