Shortly after, Jesse himself began scouring through his personal collection of VHS highlight-reel videos to come up with his very own ranking of the top five all-time Jesse Barfield outfield assists.  Then he stopped.  So we tried to round out the list. For those of you without a Twitter account, here are Jesse’s top five:

I keep looking online for it,… I’m 95% sure it was Barfield, and about 80% sure it was later in his career with the Yankees. There was a runner on first, I think, and the batter hit a bloop into the outfield. The field was wet and Barfield slid on his knees trying to get to the ball. He didn’t get the catch, but he did stop the ball… and now the runner on first was in trouble… he’d held half way to see if it would be caught. From his knees Barfield through a laser in to second and got the force.

Can anyone find video of that?
